Secondary Losses

When we experience a loss, there are many SECONDARY LOSSES that may appear. These may be painful and constant reminders that the relationship changed. We lose "more than a person". We may also experience the:
Loss of JOY
...
loss of EMOTIONAL BALANCE
Loss of BELIEFS
Loss of DREAMS
Loss of CONTROL
Loss of GOALS
Loss of EXPECTATIONS
Loss of INTIMACY
Loss of COMMUNITY
Loss of SUPPORT
Loss of SECURITY
The death of a loved one is painful and awareness of losses in these areas can magnify the intensity of this pain.
Since we grieve any change in life it should be noted that our emotions and grief response can be impacted by secondary losses.
It may be helpful to identify the secondary losses you experience. Do not be surprised if there are some very sensitive areas that bring emotions to the surface.
Next we will continue this list of SECONDARY LOSSES. Then we will learn some "tools" to help soften each one.
Thank you for following and sharing these articles with your family and friends who are dealing with loss. ⚘🙏⚘🙏
