Loss of Trust
"I just do not trust them anymore!". Perhaps we have all said this, or thought this, during our lifetime. The loss of trust can happen in any relationship, and it can be devastating. It is a feeling that someone is not being honest or truthful. Fears and insecurities can begin to dominate the relationship, leading to physical and emotional stress.
So, what can we do when trust has been broken? First, we must determine that we will forgive and try to put t...he issue in the past. This is easier said than done, but it is foundational in rebuilding trust.
I suggest writing your feelings as if you could talk to the other person again. Complete these thoughts with your own honest words:
* I want to apologize to you for.....
* I want to forgive you for.....
* I want you to know.....
* I need to hear you say.....
Writing your responses will help organize your feelings and thoughts. I believe the loss of trust is a grief issue and it is valuable to express the feelings held inside.
Please consider spending time with a professional counselor to find peace in this area. Visiting with a counselor is not a sign of weakness. It is actually a positive action of strength to improve in stressful areas of life.
You are not alone...reach out for guidance and support.
