Together there is hope!

Recently I joined the board of a developing suicide awareness/prevention foundation. Our goal is to reach out into the community and offer hope for those struggling with life. Regardless of the reason for the depression and lonliness... an emotional or mental issue, a chemical imbalance, or overwhelming grief after a loss...TOGETHER THERE IS HOPE!!
I have sat with people who seemed determined to end their life. They saw it as the only option, their last op...tion. There are no "magic words" at that time, just being present, staying calm, and hearing the heart of the person as they express their pain.
People need to be heard...they need to feel someone is hearing their concerns. There is a tremendous helplessness for anyone hearing the person who wants to end their life. We try to reason with them, try to find a point of value for them, a future, even if it is just tomorrow.
Yes, I have urged people to make verbal contracts with me that they would not hurt themselves without talking with me first. Yes, some choose to end their life. It is their choice, not mine.
Why am I telling you these things? We need to be aware of the fact that everyone we meet is fighting some type of battle in life. Everyone has endured the loss of a loved one. Everyone we meet is a survivor...we should acknowledge that we need each other. We need someone to listen...we need someone to care.
TOGETHER THERE IS HOPE...don't pull away...reach out! 💕⚘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
