"Wrapped in Honor"Sculpture by Bob Willis - in honor of Veterans Day . . . A little over 6 months ago I was pouring a cup of coffee early of a morning. My phone buzzed with a text message. A friend had sent a photo and requested prayer. But this was different.
The photo showed a mom and dad standing at the sides of their son in full military uniform. The young man had just lost his life, and his family needed prayers. Suddenly I got chills on my arms and had to put my coffee down before I spilled it. I envisioned these parents with their heart RIPPED out in grief, but with the American flag wrapped around them to honor their son. Out of this experience I developed a series of 4 sculptures to honor Veterans who died. "WRAPPED IN HONOR" The death of a Veteran is a loss to family, friends, and to the Country they bravely served. These resin castings are wrapped in the American flag to honor their faithful service. Each sculpture is 11 inches tall including a solid wood base. A personalized nameplate can display the name, dates of birth and death, and service information of the Veteran. The heart shaped opening in each sculpture is symbolic of the grief...as if the heart is removed to never be the same. The double figure can represent the loss of a child who was a Veteran. The death of a spouse who was a Veteran is depicted by a single figure wrapped in the American flag. MATERIAL: solid resin castings from the original clay. A painted bronze finish, or alabaster finish, with the painted American flag (inside display only). COST: $120 for each sculpture, including personalized nameplate. Price includes free shipping/handling to the lower 48 states, also includes a copy of the book "A Guide for Grievers" by Bob Willis. This product is completely made and assembled in the USA.
