"A MOURNING MOMENT" BY BOB WILLIS

Mood changes

Do you know someone who has a bad temper? If so, you probably know what will "set them off". Unfortunately, many children are raised in homes where they must learn to keep the peace. That is an unfair stress placed upon a child that will have lifelong complications.
But, have you noticed this? Often following the death of a loved one we can lose our temper over the smallest things. It is very normal to have mood changes in the grief journey, so do not be ...surprised if you notice changes in this area.
Following a loss, I find people can get irritated at others who argue over little insignificant issues. This may be because we are made aware of how short, fragile, and uncertain life really is. We need to treasure each moment with family and friends.
When you find yourself getting angry because of someone who wants to argue over issues...learn to walk away. You probably cannot win the argument, so do not use your precious time even trying.
Just be aware of changes in your mood, and perhaps an even shorter temper. Learn to apologize and work hard to change the behavior that can separate family and friends.
We may also get irritated at people always complaining about other family members...because we realize how quickly things can change.
Grief is a difficult journey, and unaddressed mood changes can make it even more difficult for everyone.
