LOSING IT

Picture
On the first night of a grief support group Bob often asks for a show of hands if anyone feels they are "going crazy ".  Consistently over half the group will raise their hands.  Since we are not taught what grief should feel like, it is common to feel we are "losing it". It is very normal to have tears, even uncontrolled sobbing at times. There are only 2 choices with our grief: hold it in, or let it out! It is healthier to let it out in tears or words.
Losing the ability to focus or concentrate is normal. It is common to misplace items, lose things, even forget phone numbers and names. It is OK...allow others to help you at this time. Your mind is in shock. Eating and sleeping patterns can be all messed up. We may snack thru the day and nap thru the night. Finding the right balance will be a process to restore your mind and body.
Give yourself time and permission to be "normal".
