"I really lost it"

"I really lost it"
Yesterday I was visiting with a friend about a situation she had experienced. She made the statement, "I really lost it!" I knew what she meant. (I told her I was going to write about this, but I will not use her name)😎😎.
I have LOST IT a few times in my life. Usually it leads to an apology, and an effort to make things right...to smooth over the feelings.
The definition of the phrase LOST IT is "to stop being able to control our emotions and suddenly start to cry or scream...to express by showing feelings".
Really, it is healthy to LOSE IT rather than keep the emotions bottled inside. Most of us were taught to hold our feelings in, not given permission to express them. This can lead to physical problems, but it can also make us feel like a failure when we LOSE IT.
So, let's try to change the term. Instead of saying we LOST IT...let's admit that we FOUND IT! We have FOUND a healthy outlet for emotions.
When it comes to the expressions of grief we have only 2 choices. We hold them in, or we let them out. It is healthier when we FIND IT...when we find the freedom to express our emotions.
Yes, we need to FIND IT in the right location, and around the right people...but it is worth the effort. That is when grief becomes MOURNING....that is when we find comfort.
