Thera-hugs

"Hugging someone you love for 20 seconds a day is the key to alleviating stress and beating burnout". (Burnout: the Secret of Solving the Stress Cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski).
COVID-19 has practically ended opportunities for hugging. But hugging still remains an important part of coping with daily stress levels. Friendships and relationships where hugging was a natural expression of caring have become a challenge to continue.
...
In my grief work over the years, I learned to include what I referred to as "thera-hugs"...part therapy and part hugs. Human touch is very important during the grief journey. Too many times a loss can make someone feel alone, not cared for, and even as an "un-touchable" person.
It is true, some people are "huggers" and some are not. We must respect the acceptance level of each person.
During these days of social distancing, what have you discovered to be the best replacement for a hug? How do you express feelings for someone in a way to lower their stress and anxiety?
Please share your ideas so we can all have insight into this area. This world needs more HUGS😷🙏((😊😊)).
